SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
2.21.13

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY! 2.21.13Hi there.

Not a true self portrait. My friend/coworker Kristin took the photo. I just didn’t have time this morning to get it together enough to take a self portrait.

All is well in my land. TOYC shot its fall 2013 collection yesterday. I wasn’t able to be there with Ben because I couldn’t get the day off work. But I saw the shots, and it looks great. We needed to take a season off, but it’s great to be back in the game. The new pieces look fresh and comfortable. So excited to show you guys.

I’ve also gotten a second wind with my new knit project. I had slowed down a bit because I wasn’t happy with my progress. I didn’t like what I was doing with my most recent piece. I felt like I wasn’t doing a good job. So, I unraveled about five inches of what I was doing and restarted. So far so good. I’m really happy with my progress since!

With the new Take Off Your Clothes collection here, my working out going well, and my knitting get back on track, I’m feeling really good.

Can’t beat that.

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
1.31.13

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY! 1.31.13Happy Thursday, kids.

It’s a really pretty and windy and sunny day in NYC. I’m actually in a good mood. Usually I’m in a whatever mood. Not good, not bad. Just whatever.

Still the same work, make art, workout, etc. routine. I like working out. I always feel better about myself when I’m active. And it’s nice to feel your body change. The changes might not be totally visible yet, but I feel in tune enough with my body that I can feel some changes.

In other news, I’m trying to plan a quick trip down to DC to visit Ben’s family and their dogs. I feel like I need some dog time. You know where you lie down and let a dog walk all over you. It puts things into perspective for me. Adjusts my brain.

Like looking out at sea.

We just have to make some arrangements. Take Off Your Clothes is working on a FW13 collection after taking a break during the spring season. Ben and I really needed a breather, and I wanted to concentrate on my own art. But I’m really excited about this collection Ben is cooking up! He’s been busy working.

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
7.12.12

I’ve just returned from the Hamptons and Montauk. I want to elaborate now, but I’ll talk more about the trip tomorrow.

But I did get a slight tan. How about that?

Dragging a little today. Got a to-do list behind my eyes…

As for now I’ll leave you with a link to the full Take Off Your Clothes Fall-Winter 2012 collection on Facebook. I’ll be posting it on our main site soon.

Soup’s on the stove, and there’s another heatwave coming. Oh boy.

The response to the Take Off Your Clothes FW12 preview was very nice. Since the shoot I’ve felt very drained. I didn’t leave the apartment yesterday. Just stayed home and worked on my own project. Knit until my hands hurt. Waking up groggy. Should stop taking sleeping pills before bed.

But right now I’m feeling sad. My doggie nephew Gus is really sick, and we don’t know if he’s going to make it. He’s a good little dog. I wish I could help him and all the other good little dogs in the world.

Hi friends,

Here is a sneak peek at the Take Off Your Clothes FW12 collection. It’s called LUMBERJACK CONFESSIONS. Inspired by eroticism and the forest and our general interest in unusual yet wearable streetwear.

I looked over the images last night and can say that all the stress and facial blemishes and insomnia were worth it.  And to quote myself from a conversation I had earlier today, “I felt moved and very appreciative.”

I was pleased with everyone’s involvement.

And let’s just say that we slept very well last night.

We will post more images after we make our selects!

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
6.21.12

Oh dear.

This morning I realized I forgot to do my self portrait yesterday. My mind has been so preoccupied with the Take Off Your Clothes FW12 (called LUMBERJACK CONFESSIONS) photo shoot we have on Tuesday. There have been too many loose ends to be tied up that I’ve been stressing out to the max.

Also dealing with craziness and more craziness.

Usually Ben is the one stressing out, and I’m the one to calm him down. But I feel like the tables have turned this time. Not sure why. I just want everything to be right. I want it all to go smoothly and quickly.

It’s quite the task to bring a bunch of different people (in this case, 8) together to complete one project. But I’ve got a feeling it’ll be worth it…

If I ever kept my hair one color, I’m sure you’d see some greys.

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
6.7.12

Hello. It’s been a busy week. Sister was in town, it’s crunch time for Take Off Your Clothes, etc. I’ve also been knitting up a storm.

I wish I could just show you the project I’m working on, but that would ruin the surprise. I see this project so crisply in my mind. I guess you could say it picks up where the knit bondage left off. Whatever that means to you.

Anyway, yesterday I went to the Louis B James gallery in the Lower East Side. We will be shooting our FW12 collection for Take Off Your Clothes there. They have some really cool pieces. I love the photographic pieces with paint on them. And then there are some cool balloon-liquid plastic sculptures, too.

Good stuff.

Nice sunstorm yesterday.

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
5.24.12

Hey, I love a rainy day. Especially when I can stay inside all day if I want to. Like today. I think it’s great when Ben and I can listen to the heavy rain outside while eating bagels and cream cheese and sipping our morning coffee.

But we weren’t completely lazy today. There was work to be done. Went over the new Take Off Your Clothes collection. Made some changes to some garments. Fought about some changes to some garments. (But fighting about those things never lasts more than three minutes.)

And for lunch I made the best quesadillas. I’m still so full.

Makes me just wanna curl up on this couch…

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!

It’s a gray and rainy day, so I figured gray + rainy = grainy photo.

It also got cold, so I thought I’d break out my Ghost Jacket.

I am really digging the new haircut I got yesterday. It is incredibly sharp and it’s the kind of cut where you look in the mirror and think to yourself  ”Damn, I look so fucking good.”

Conceited? Maybe. But I think you’re allowed/supposed to be conceited after you get a nice haircut.

It is a vintage look that pairs very nicely with a modern NYC lifestyle.

I got it at Seagull in the West Village, which is where I just started working part-time as the receptionist. I’m in training still and am being instructed by my lovely friend Molly, Seagull’s head receptionist and salon manager.

Here is the two of us sporting our new hairstyles, courtesy of the salon’s most recent arrival, the very talented William.

It is nice to be taught by Molly. I’m convinced everything she says is gold. And it is scary how cool she is. Words cannot explain. She has been an inspiration to Ben and I since day one. So much that we dedicated a piece in our newest Take Off Your Clothes collection to her: The Kimzey, a crop top of sorts.

We have never dedicated anything to anyone. But Molly loves to wear crop tops, so we thought it’d be nice to make one for her but put a TOYC spin on it.

Loving it.

And this new haircut.
