When my younger sister Windy left back to Texas, I wasn't as upset as I was the last time she came to visit because I'm not as alone/by myself here in New York anymore.

Luckily and coincidentally all (well, most) of my best and closest friends live here. We didn't plan on moving here as a group; it just happened like that. (I didn't want to move here in the first place. It's too far from home. Sometimes I think I'm a momma's boy.)

I didn't feel as empty when Windy left because I knew I was still in a place with people who love me.

So, I guess the bottom line is that I don't need my sister. =)

Jokes.

Anyway, here's a scarf I made for Windy months ago—and finally gave to her once she came to see me:

I don't know what's up with her face/hair either… Why do I feel the need to act so mean to her sometimes? It's just a compulsion I have. And it's so funny.

(The very awesome/nice yarn is made by Hobbledehoy.)

Here's Windy and Gordo the Cat (who might be my roommate again in the near future—let's hope!):

And Windy and her favorite (only) brother, me:

I made her take that right before I walked her outside to the cab.

It was so cute when she was here.
I taught her how to knit before she left. She caught on pretty quickly, and that made me proud. We even went yarn shopping.

Let's hope she sticks with it and gets to be very good at it.
Not better than me of course.

I have a very fragile ego!

If you're in the NYC area, you must check out the Museum of Arts and Design, specifically the Second Lives exhibit. The exhibit is all about taking found objects (and/or trash or whatever) and making them into works of art. It was so awesome and inspiring.

A dress made of rubber gloves = very nice.

In other news, here are a couple of knit pieces I've completed lately:

I made this scarf with yarn I dyed in soft, light shades of green, yellow, and blue. It's bulky and warm and very cozy.

This is something I finished last night using yarn I spun last week:

It's a Möbius strip cowl. I'm really into those right now. I've made a couple more cowls like that that I've photographed but yet to upload onto the internet.

Möbius strip, in case you don't know:

P.S.
I'm getting a nose job.

So, this is the secret scarf I said I was working on:

And here's what it looks like close up:

It's made from scrap fabrics that I cut up into strips and then sewed together to use as yarn.
And the scarf itself is RILLY long. Almost 11 feet. It's about 4" wide, too, but it can stretch another inch probably.

I'm a fan.
And I hope you are, too.

So, this is what I looked like when I woke up this morning:

I just could not seem to wake up this morning. Not sure what my problem is either since I went to bed around midnight.

I even set the alarm (not that I ever really need to be anywhere at a certain time) so that I would wake up earlier than I have been. But for about an hour, I just let the alarm go off while I was sleeping. I couldn't be bothered to wake up and turn it off.

And this was the view last night from my bus stop in Red Hook:

Those are the WTC memorial lights. Not the best picture on earth, tho.
It sorta looks like one beam.

Well, Windy, my younger sister, left yesterday. And I wasn't expecting this, but I got so sad after I said goodbye that I started crying as I was walking in the airport. I was so homesick the rest of the day that I had to go to the bathroom a couple times to bury my face in my towel and cry like a baby.

But I guess it's just one of those things.
I feel a lot better today.

Here are some photos of me being an NYC tourist with my sister:

(At the top of the Empire State Building.)

Me

(Grand Central.)

It also snowed about five to seven inches the other day while she was here. I was really happy that she got to see real snow. (We're from Houston, so getting snow is almost unheard of.)

That scarf that she's wearing is a belated Christmas gift I finished after she got here. I made her model it for me the other day:

It's really long—over 70".
And it's a foot wide.

She told me she wanted it this one time we were waiting at the Coach store. This lady walked in with a similar scarf, and Windy said, "That's the scarf I want. So, you better get on it.'

I'm not good with deadlines.
I'm also worse when I have no deadlines.

So, yeah.
That's that.

Here are a few other random photos of some shirts I've sewn since yesterday. And other stuff.

Oh, and here's this photo of me when I had this REALLY bad hangover.
(I couldn't stay in bed all day long like I wanted to, though. I had to keep on truckin' and take Windy shopping…)

Me

I got sorta belligerent the night before…

K sorry for all the photos, but I missed you, friends!

I listed these items in my shop yesterday and today. I feel like I haven't been too active lately.
I think that when I'm stressed and broke, I produce less. I dunno, whatever. Let's not talk about it.

Okay, that is all.
I'm gonna go watch more "Law and Order".
