SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!

Yesterday was the best Fourth of July I can remember having.
Ben and I began our day by going to look for beach towels in our neighborhood. We went to this one place and found big American flag towels, which obviously we had to buy. We went to the beach at Fort Tilden, and it was wonderful. We met up with our most special friends. (I even went far out into the water, which I never do.)
Ben surprised me with an early birthday present: Bernhard Willhelm American flag socks (seen on my arms). And this really cute birthday card with a chihuahua on the front. I couldn’t handle it.
The day was really relaxing. Eating watermelon on the beach. Sunbathing. Playing gin with our big novelty sized playing cards.
Then we drove to the Rockaways to go eat empanadas and drink beer. I was looking for Lillian and her fruit stand but didn’t see her. We went back to Williamsburg after to watch the fireworks on the roof of this crazy condo my friend is house sitting at. (The dog that lived there was afraid of the fireworks and kept hiding in the bathroom—even closing the door behind him!)
The whole day was very magical, and the company was great. Molly even started playing guitar. She played this Red Hot Chili Peppers song really well. My mouth dropped in delight.
So, I’m all red today. But it was totally worth it.
Going out of town this weekend for my birthday! More fun in the sun.
